Even if I don’t get any recognition
outside of myself,
I know for certain, inside of me,
that effort wise
and talent wise
I am award material quality,
and I deserve
a kiss from an angel on
my forehead,
an applause from a squirel
in the forest
and a shower of mist
on my face.
I have been responsible all day,
I have worked very hard;
I have obeyed every law there is,
I have solved every day’s problems
in front of me.
I have been a decent person,
I have behaved like a respecful individual;
I have helped those more
unfortunate than me,
I have waited paciently
in line to get my turn;
but tonight…
can you bath me like a baby,
can you put me down to sleep?
can you reasure my heart fears,
can you sing me lullabies?
I’m so tired of my efforts,
I just want to rest in your arms.
